Let's hear it for the Moms {Georgia Family Photographer}

For Mother's Day we got together at my Mom's house for some outdoor time, homemade ice cream, and various shenanigans. It was SUPER fun. My nephews are such a blast, and ALL BOY.

Lighting Workshop with Billy Howard

It's been an extremely constructive but busy few weeks, and I'm behind on the blog. Oops!

One of the things on my calendar was a workshop at Serenbe Photography Center, located in the lovely Chattahoochee Hill Country about 40 minutes south of Atlanta. The Serenbe Community is a very unique place, boasting a mix of homes, an inn, spa, retailers, a stable, and an organic farm.

Our instructor was Billy Howard, a documentary and commercial photographer based here in Atlanta. The focus of the class was creating & controlling light in the studio environment to make the most compelling portrait of your subject. It's something Billy definitely knows something about. The first thing we did was have a 'show and tell' of images we had taken, so he could get a feel for the experience level of the class. The final person to show images was him, and the first picture that flashed up on the screen was a stunning black and white image of Desmond Tutu. Um, wow.

It was a very educational and fun day. Billy was a very relaxed, down to earth teacher, and as we divided into groups we started getting comfortable with one another and the equipment. Good thing, since we had to use our fellow students as models the first part of the day! Here are a few images of classmates and new friends Nikki and Erin.

First Look - Gretchen & Kent {Chattanooga Wedding Photographer}

There are not enough words to describe what Gretchen means to me. We've known each other....forever. Plenty of memories, laughs, and juicy tidbits on each other. Even living in different cities we kept in touch, if loosely at times, and when we reconnected it was like picking up a conversation that had never really stopped.

She and Kent had a small, intimate, absolutely perfect celebration of their love and commitment in Chattanooga, and I was thrilled to be there. Here's a sneak peak....
